Memorial Day is a US federal holiday wherein the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces are remembered.^[1] The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the final Monday of May,^[2] was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service.^[3] It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.
Annual Decoration Days for particular cemeteries are held on a Sunday in late spring or early summer in some rural areas of the American South, notably in the mountains. In cases involving a family graveyard where remote ancestors as well as those who were deceased more recently are buried, this may take on the character of an extended family reunion to which some people travel hundreds of miles. People gather on the designated day and put flowers on graves and renew contacts with kinfolk and others. There often is a religious service and a "dinner on the ground," the traditional term for a potluck meal in which people used to spread the dishes out on sheets or tablecloths on the grass. It is believed that this practice began before the American Civil War and thus may reflect the real origin of the "memorial day" idea.^[4]

Hardwood Refinishing - Deciding to re-finish or get new flooring
Northwest Trends Flooring America also does hardwood sand & refinishing. First, decide whether the floor needs a total refinishing job:

If a drop of water beads or soaks in slowly, you may get by with a good cleaning and polishing.
If a drop of water soaks in immediately, the wood fibers may already be exposed and the floor needs refinishing.
If the floor is warped, deeply stained, squeaky or otherwise damaged, you'll need to make repairs first, then refinish.

If you choose to refinish, keep these things in mind:

Since the sanding process can remove a lot of surface, your floor needs to be at least 3/4" thick.
If your floor is thinner than 3/4", you may want hire a pro to avoid accidentally sanding down to the subfloor.
A tongue and groove floor cannot be sanded as many times as a plank floor.
Some newer floors are as thin as 1/4" and cannot be refinished.
If your hardwood floor is underneath another floor covering, the old floor has to be removed.

Flooring America/ Flooring Canada will advise the winner of their Travel Concierge to select and book the trip. Trip is

costs over $5,000 will not be paid by Flooring America and will be the responsibility of the winner. If trip cost is less

than $5,000, winner may not receive cash to make up the difference. There are no blackout periods however; certain

dates have higher rates, so if the winner chooses a time period in which costs exceed $5,000 the winner is

responsible to pay any cost above $5,000. All dollar amounts are in US dollars. The trip must be taken between
